Computer science at the Faculty of Sciences

The Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Montpellier offers a range of training courses and human and material resources for students up to baccalaureate + 5 years of age in professional and research-oriented fields. It is the main computer science teaching structure in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.

The main supporting research laboratory is the LIRMM (Montpellier Computer Science, Robotics and Microelectronics Laboratory), which groups together the majority of the region’s academic researchers in computer science. It is a UMR (Mixed Research Unit) that is jointly dependent on the University of Montpellier and the CNRS.

Two other laboratories are strongly linked to our courses: ISEM (Institut des Sciences de l’Évolution de Montpellier) and Espace-Dev (Observation Spatiale, modèles et science impliquée).

Research in computer science in these three laboratories is based on the themes offered by our various masters and bachelor courses.

Other laboratories integrated into the research organisations INRAE, CIRAD, CNRS, INSERM, IMT Mines d’Alès and IRD… are also associated with

  • Executive, engineer or trainer in Computer Science.
  • Researcher in Computer Science via a PhD thesis.

Partnership agreements with the other components of the University of Montpellier (IUT of Béziers, IUT of Montpellier, Polytech) allow for gateways to and from our courses.

In 2017, thirty months after graduation, the employment rate was 93%. 54% of young graduates have a job in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. The average net monthly salary is 2240 €.
